Biography
Aakaash Thakkar is the pen name of Dr. Rajendra Jayantilal Thakkar. He was born on 22nd November 1958 at Patan, a historical city of the state of Gujarat, India. His mother’s name is Pushpaben and he had two elder brothers and two elder sisters. After Medical Graduation in 1982 he started practicing as a family physician and medical records editor and worked for almost 30 years in Ahmedabad, India.
He migrated with family to USA in 2012 and here also he worked in medical profession as a medical assistant and medical records specialist till his retirement in 2024. Professionally retired but still active in reading and writing Poetry.
Along with school and college education he was also keenly interested in reading and writing Gujarati Poetry. He wrote his first poetry in his school life and continued till today being a poet author of seven Gujarati Poetry Collection Books. His second book "Visamvadi Safar" was awarded by "Gujarat Sahitya Akadami", a literary academy of Gujarat State, India.
The subject of his poetry is mainly centralized with human emotions blend with modern thoughts. His poetry has profound effects of social trends and development of science and technology. Doctor’s mind and Poet’s Heart know and understand very well the problems of human beings. He has used very interestingly concurrent symbols and imaginaries. He always tried to achieve poetry with colloquial language instead of very heavy classical language. He also wrote Ghazal and Geet (Lyrics), but his considerable work is his free verse poems or prose poems.
He believes that poetry is never ending process like a life. It can change its outer covering but not the inner soul. The Poetry is the Soul of The Poet

Ajani Sugandh is the first poetry collection of the poet, published in September 1990. It includes only prose poems drawn attention from many readers and critics.

Visamvadi Safar is the second poetry collection of the poet, published in June 2007, after a prolonged period of 16 years of the first book! It includes Ghazals, Short Poems, Prose Poems and especially a Long Poem with the same name. The book was awarded by 'Gujarat Sahitya Akadami' a literary academy of the state of Gujarat, India.
સાચવેલી ક્ષણો

Saachaveli Kshano is the third poetry collection book of the poet, published in June 2019. It had created a new hope for the poetry-interested reader, as it includes some new types of lyrics different from traditions. It also includes Ghazals, Lyrics, Prose Poems and some critical articles.
અંતરવહી

Antarvahi is the fourth poetry collection book of the poet, published in March 2022. It includes Short Poems, Prose Poems and Lyrics, all little diverse types.
ઓથમીવાલા ઉપનિષદ

Othamiwala Upnishad is the fifth poetry collection book of the poet, published in March 2022. It is a Single Long Prose Poem divided into twelve chapters. The hero of this poem is Mr. Avatarsing Othamiwala, having many more diversity of his personality, of course absolutely an imaginary character.
અસલી ઓળખ

Asali Olakh is the sixth poetry collection book of the poet, published in October 2024. It has all Prose Poems, attracted many readers and critics.
અજાણી સુગંધ - अनजानी सुगंध

Ajani Sugandh - अनजानी सुगंध is seventh poetry collection book of the poet, published in October 2024. This book is the translation of first book, 'Ajani Sugandh', translated by Dr. Diwa Bhatt, a well-known Poetess of Hindi and Gujarati languages. It is very warmly welcomed by the readers of both languages.
